Discover the Startling Windsor Castle

18 06 2008

Windsor Castle is thought to be the biggest inhabited castles around at the moment & the oldest in nonstop inhabitation (about 900 years). It’s one of Queen Elizabeth’s three royal residences, & is over and over again beloved to be the Queens most treasured home. The Royal flag flutters above the Round Tower of Windsor Castle on every occasion Queen Elizabeth is in residence - nevertheless, at other times, the Union Jack banner flutters instead.

Samuel Pepys once commented Windsor Castle to be “the solitary most adored castle around.” That was believed in 1666, and the equivalent can be said today.

Windsor Castle Thrilling History:

The origins of Windsor can be found in the 7th century Saxon hamlet of Windlesora, where the present day parish of Old Windsor is sited. The settlement of Windsor is more correctly known as “New Windsor” - the phrase “new” being referenced in a strictly relative sense! Windsor Castle tours available daily from Enjoy England.

Windsor Castle was initially assembled by the renowned William the Conqueror, following his hit of England in ten sixty six. The original frame was assembled from lumber with gravel fortifications. Windsor Castle held a noticeable strategic location on a big hill high above the River Thames, and was a fraction of a group of strongholds surrounding London, with the Tower of London, one whole days ride away, at its hub.

The Palace was later on re-erected in rock, and increased in value over the following years. More recently Henry 2nd created the Round Tower & the original stone outer wall. After the English Civil War, the Castle’s primary role became that of a royal dwelling. Windsor Castle has stayed significantly unaffected ever since the beginning of the 19th century, apart from the reconstruction job right after the tragic fire.

Will You Be Able To Work In Canada?

12 06 2008

If you are already planning your arrival to Canada, you must be asking yourself if you will be able to work there!

Before moving to Canada, you should learn as much as possible about working in Canada. Since there is no guarantee that you will find work in your preferred occupation, it is very important to be fully aware and prepared about the Canadian regulations and job opportunities.

First of all, I recommend updating your résumé and cover letter. You should have them ready when you arrive to Canada.
As explained by CIC, you should consider the following facts before looking for a job in Canada:

- You may need to have your credentials assessed and recognized and you may have to be licensed;

- Depending on your profession, you may need to take additional courses;

- You may need to complete examinations or you may need to take a job specific test.

Even though you are not required to have these credentials for the immigration process, they will be very important when you look for a job in Canada.

Remember, knowledge is power. The more you know about the Canadian immigration process, the easier it will be to submit your Permanent Residence visa application.

Good luck in Canada!

Traveling With Pets

2 06 2008

Sometime things happen and you need to leave right away. If you have pets, this can cause a major problem. What if no one is available to watch your pet? If you don’t want to leave you pet at a shady kennel where most dogs are kept in cages, you can simply take them with you; it’s easier than you would ever imagine.

Most airlines allow pets. Some airlines even allow your pet to be carried onto the plain if it is small enough to put into a kennel that will easily slide under the seat in front of you. If the dog is too large, it will be kept in cargo which is temperature and pressure regulated just like the passenger area. It is imperative to make sure that your airline will make accommodations for your pet as there are a few discount airlines that will not. Especially if you buy your airline tickets online, call ahead to verify their policies.

Each airline that accepts pets will ask you to make reservations for you pet ahead of time because they can only carry so many pets each trip. It is important to make these reservations as soon as possible to ensure your pet’s seat on the flight. Pets also require health certificates to fly. You can purchase one from your vet, but they only last for 10 days. If your voyage is longer, you will need to purchase another for the trip home.

As mentioned before, your pet will need a kennel/carrier. These can be purchased usually for very cheap at your local pet store. They come with padded inside walls and in various sizes from extra small to extra large depending on your needs. You will have to be careful with your kennel purchase as there are some carriers that aren’t approved for airline travel and some that are. Be sure to ask the pet store workers for help if you need it.

There is no need to tranquilize your pet, either. Air travel will put your pet to sleep just like it does you. The only thing that may aid your pet in travel is to crate train it. Otherwise, everything will be fine! Have fun traveling with your pet!

Daytona Beach Florida is a golfer’s paradise

19 05 2008

If you say the words Daytona Beach to a person with even a
minimal amount golf knowledge, more than likely their mind’s eye
will draw up images of unending, gorgeous golf courses and
fantasies of some of the best golfing that can be found anywhere
in the world. And there is a good reason why that is so.

Daytona Beach is fast becoming recognized, not for its beaches
and unsurpassed nightlife, but for the fun that it offers on the
green. In fact, Daytona Beach is so interconnected with this
sport, that it is rapidly becoming known as Florida’s golf
capital and is the new home of the Ladies Professional Golf
Association (LPGA), which recently moved their headquarters to
Daytona from Texas.

Boasting of more than 30 golf courses including 20 championship
golf courses, one could view Daytona as a sea of green and a
golfer’s paradise. From beginner courses to advanced courses,
Daytona’s golfing scene has an attraction for every golfing
enthusiast no matter what his or her experience level.

Daytona’s championship golf courses line the 23-mile expanse of
the Daytona Beach coastline. With temperatures averaging little
more than 70 degrees, Daytona’s golf courses are ideal for
spending an entire day on the green. And with great restaurants,
resorts and area attractions nearby, a golfing vacation to
Daytona is one that the whole family can enjoy.

One of the most popular golfing spots of the Daytona Beach area
is Pelican Bay. This 18-hole champion golf course, designed by
Lloyd Clifton, winds through a wilderness area complete with a
series of water canals and lakes. This course is also visited
often by area wildlife so you may just find yourself enjoying
more than a relaxing round of golf under the Florida sun.

Another popular course among golfers is the Spruce Creek Country
Club. Consisting of nearly 7,000 yards of fairways, lakes and
greens, the Spruce Creek Country Club’s course, designed by Bill
Amick, sports 18 holes and perfectly manicured grounds.

And golfing at one of the more than 30 golf courses in the
Daytona Beach is very affordable when it’s not free. That’s
right, free. During the months of May through October, Daytona
hosts a free golfing program where you can golf for free on many
of the premier courses in the Daytona Beach area. This program
is sponsored by the Golf Daytona Beach organization and is a
favorite among die-hard golfers because greens fees can really
add up if you golf everyday. The program works like this: If you
stay at a participating hotel for two or more consecutive
nights, you’ll get a free round of golf for each day of your
stay. You must play after noon, and cart fees are extra, but
with greens fees averaging $30 per day, the free golf program is
an exceptional deal.

While golfing for free everyday would be nice, it’s not always
possible. Some actually have to pay to play a round of golf. But
when you have to pay in Daytona, it is more affordable than what
you might think. With more than 20 champion golf courses
designed by pros such as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Arthur
Hills, Rees Jones and Lloyd Clifton, you might expect to pay an
arm and a leg to golf these exceptional courses. But in fact,
many offer very affordable rates, and when combined with
accommodations packages, you can save an unbelievable amount of
money.

You can even golf one of two premier courses of the LPGA for a
reasonable price. One of those courses is known as The Champions
Course and is the site of the prestigious LPGA Mercury
Titleholders event. The second course, The Legends, just opened
for public play last October. The LPGA facility also features a
teaching academy with practice holes, greens and a driving range.

In addition to all of the great golfing to be had in the
Daytona, Florida area, there are beaches, shops, fine
restaurants, museums, attractions and entertainment galore. And
who could forget that Disney World is less than an hour away.
So, if you are looking for a dream vacation getaway for your
family and a relaxing week of golf for yourself, Daytona may be
just the spot to make all of your vacation dreams come true.

Clean Vacationing

29 04 2008

Admit it. When the sun is out and you are at your favorite
campsite or cottage on the lake the last thing you want to do
is spend a lot of time cooking a meal. Often, when
vacationing, the lure to purchase instant foods is strong.

Unfortunately, these convenience foods often come over
packaged usually including some type of plastic. As we can
see when we come across trash in the wilderness, the
plastics tend to linger the longest - other than maybe glass
and metal. Nothing ruins the feel of a pristine, natural area
more than a bunch of garbage. Numerous studies prove
that tourists return to an area primarily for its cleanliness
and greenery. In this era where the economy has come to
rely more on tourism, cleaning up is truly a benefit for the
community.

We soon realized that walking by these messes and
complaining over such disrespect, we were behaving not
much better than the polluters who left it. Now when we hike
we pack a supply of plastic bags (grocery bags work well) to
clean up as we go. Often we earn up to $10 in returnable
bottles and cans in the process. When you take a bit of time
to clean up some trash not only do you have a better trail or
beach to come back to, you have helped to make it safer
and nicer for the next user. This simple measure just might
influence others to keep it clean, as well.

When on the water with the canoe we also clean as we go
by diving for garbage below the surface using a mask and
snorkel. It is amazing the finds we have from these
excursions under water. One of the first times we did this,
we found an expensive diving mask in about 30 feet of water
- enough incentive to continue this practice! We have found
antique bottles, jewelry, fishing lures and reels.

It feels very good to clear up a beach of shards of broken
glass hiding just below the surface before an unwary
swimmer splashes into it. It does not, however, feel as good
to find a large fish hook by imbedding it in the bottom of your
foot. Take heart in knowing you have done a good thing as
your expletive echoes off the far mountainside. Imagine an
innocent child stepping on that hook instead of you and
decide if it is worth taking the time…
