Britain’s independent spectrum advisor, Kip Meek, says it is almost impossible that the country will witness a spectrum auction this year.

The auction, originally scheduled for 2008, will offer the spectrum to network operators for the expansion of existing 3G services (click here for latest 3g laptop deals). This will allow operators to provide improved broadband services throughout the UK. The spectrum going up for grabs also means the next generation of mobile broadband could soon be available. However, the process has already been marred by disagreements, which have delayed the auction. And with more legal problems arising within the industry, Meek does not believe the auction is likely to take place in 2010.

Meek pointed out that not only are service providers disgruntled over the entire episode but the issue has also been kept hanging for quite a long time, bringing crucial decisions within arm’s length of the general elections. Addressing a Westminster eForum on the digital switch-over, Meek noted that the ownership of the existing spectrum and auctioning of the new one were tricky and politically uninteresting issues to the parties contesting the elections and aspiring to come to power. He even labelled the issue as a ‘policy-making orphan’.

Meek said the issue was very boring for policy-makers and politicians to take any notice of it at this juncture. He expressed the hope that television and mobile were two devices which would see unprecedented growth in the near future, adding that the UK had a great opportunity to become a part of a global technology revolution which would see the emergence and development of the next generation mobile phone. He called upon all political parties to think about the impending issue even though it may seem quite “difficult and opaque”.

Do you want to spend less ringing overseas? You may be surprised to hear that over a million people make international calls every day. People are largely unaware that there is an easy way to save money on these calls you can save a lot of money with internet telephony. Mobile VoIP calls provide callers with great service, superb sound quality, and great prices. Mobile VoIP works in such a way that callers can get very cheap calls worldwide. You no longer need to put up with the exorbitant rates mobile phone operators charge.

One of the most popular mobile VoIP providers is Truphone who offer a free to download and easy to use application. This enables you to route phone calls over the internet from your cell phone, allowing you to make substantial savings on calls from your mobile. The reason being, is that by not using the conventional cell phone network you are no longer subject to the high charges you normally incur.

Mobile VoIP has gained world-wide acceptance, and competition is increasing benchmark standards for VoIP service providers. The improved performance and high level of competition in the market place contributes to the development of the telecom technologies that businesses need to excel and survive.

People no longer needto pay extreme sums of money to ring their colleagues and acquaintances overseas. Large incumbent telecoms companies attract consumers in by telling them that they don’t have another choice but that is erroneous. There are a plethora of other options! In reality the majority of mobile VoIP providers are likely to be even more reliable than your provider right now.

VoIP is definitely the wave of the future and there is much to learn about it so that when advances are made you aren’t left in the dark. Whether you want to receive training or professional reasons, you can get great VoIP training to help you understand all of the variables that make up voice over internet protocol. Luckily, there is VoIP training that can be done in the comfort of your own home on your own time.

If you are interested in learning more about VoIP for any reason all you need to do is find a place online to order some training DVD’s. A lot of these DVD’s offer the best advice and training you can get aside from the manufacturers of VoIP devices. These training videos will walk you step by step through the fundamentals of VoIP, the buzzwords associated with it, the technology, and also the vendors who currently provide VoIP services and the differences between them.

So, browse around the internet and see if you can’t read enough to fulfill your interest and fascination with VoIP, or consider contacting the makers of certain VoIP products for brochures and free videos. If you want to learn more about the technical aspects of voice over internet protocol you can find DVD’s on the internet and even in some of the more tech savvy video stores. These online or DVD training courses will teach you everything you need to know so you’ll be one step ahead with this state of the art technology.

Seattle venture capitalist, Greg Gottesman, calls it “…one of the most important changes in communications in the past 100 years.”

The Boeing Company announced plans to move its 150,000 employees to an internet-based phone system, and several Seattle area residents are using internet telephones to get cheap rates or, in some cases, free international phone calls.

Using VoIP, homes and businesses can save up to 80% on current phone bills, while enjoying a quality of sound that is superior to traditional lines. The only equipment needed is a computer with sound, and a microphone or headset, which can be purchased at a local store for between $5 to $45. Upgrades to existing equipment is virtually eliminated, as VoIP can be used on dial-up (contrary to numerous published claims), broadband, wireless, or satellite connections.

When shopping for a VoIP solutions provider

•	Look for secure lines and patented technology.

•	Look for free PC to PC calls.

•	Check for hidden costs.

•	Avoid providers with unsecure lines and/or peer-to-peer programs as public listing of names and numbers, shared servers, or open platforms, as may leave you vulnerable to not only spyware, but viruses, worms, Trojan horses, unscrupulous hackers, not to mention violation of privacy.

Dee Scrip and her close friend Andy Murray operate the website http://www.whypay4calls.com. Where you can experience a 7 day free trial with a secure line on patented technology. NO contracts, obligations, or hassles!

This plan was first proposed in the Digital Britain report and has been under discussion by members of the Digital Britain Forum since then.

It is believed that that the government through its tax rate of 50p per month will collect around £150 million annually to fund its Next Generation Access (NGA) scheme. This would mean that an internet connection could be made available to every citizen and the uneven distribution of broadband network across the nation that exists now can be done away with - click 3g internet for information on mobile broadband coverage in your area.

However, there seems to be consensus among critics that the digital goals of the government are unsatisfactory and that sufficient measures have not been taken to achieve them.

<span id="short_comment1" title="Click to view full content" onclick="swapContent("short_comment1", "full_comment1")">So have you ever heard of the VOIP telephone service? A lot of people have not EVER heard of this relatively new technology. However, on the flipside there are a lot of business owners who are quite familiar with this type of service. They have services through these providers. It’s not really a complicated topic to learn about. The abbreviation stands for Voice Over The Internet Protocol. In a way you can say that it is pretty much a phone service that runs through the internet and relies on the internet to operate.

How much do all of these calls cost you say? Well the calls are free. That’s right, free. You just simply pay the monthly service fee and all the calls that you want to does not increase your bill at all. What the phone service providers do is they route it using an IP circuit so that it uses up less bandwidth. This frees up a lot of space along the entire travel length of the circuit. The amount that the service provider charges you varies and it ranges from a mere $30 to around $75. If you think about all of the money that you are saving it is really worth having the service.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to having and using this type of technology. Some of the advantages would be: more phone calls can be placed in the same amount of circuitry as compared to the traditional phone system and data networks already understand the technology so there is no new products or software that is needed. This really eliminates the need for additional funding to really get VOIP up and running as widespread as it is. Some of the disadvantages are: phones work and computers and electronics tend to fail, VOIP is dependent on wall power (without power it does not work), and 911 calls become a challenge with VOIP. The reason for this is because the phone is ran through an IP address and not through a line. This makes it very difficult for the 911 operators to get the geographic location of the person calling. You cannot associate an IP address with an actual address.
