Many new players actually end up calling so much that they get dubbed “calling stations” by their more competent counterparts. This should be considered a dreaded name for any player.

The truly great players know that constant calling is reactionary instead of proactive. You need to be able to call so that you can take advantage of the circumstances for your economic game. If you can’t do that, then you are really just watching the game take place instead of interacting with it. You need to learn to manipulate the game through calling to win consistently.
