7 Little Things That You Can do to Organize the Kids’ Rooms

28 02 2009

1. Sink to their level. Get on your knees in their room to view things from a kid’s level. Convenience is an important factor in getting anyone to organize or put things away. Lower clothing racks in the closet. Put most frequently used items on the lowest shelves and in the lowest drawers. Set up decorative, short open bins, crates, baskets and boxes in corners, on closet floors and at the foot of the bed.

2. Hide stuff under the bed. Use flat, rectangular storage bins on wheels that are made for under-the-bed storage. Designate one of these for Barbie dolls and another for mini toy cars. Store your children’s artwork including construction paper and crayons in one of the bins. Older children can store schoolwork and notebooks here. Got music lovers? They can keep a pile of CDs handy here.

3. Make organizing fun. Organizing can be a drag even for “big people.” Imagine how your child feels at the thought of clearing away his toys, clothes and school work. Get your children involved by letting them creatively label their own drawers and bins. They can make personalized drawings as labels. Or you can take photos of your child with an object that goes in the drawer and tape it to the front of the bin or drawer. Is the drawer supposed to hold small toy soldiers? Tape a small clear plastic pocket to the outside of the drawer that’s stuffed with an example of the contents such as one toy soldier. You can buy notebook plastic sleeves (also called sheet protectors) from any office supply store. Then just cut them to the size needed. Use clear shipping tape to attach labels to bins. Put a laundry hamper under a kid size basketball hoop.

4. Keep drawers shallow. The deeper the drawer, the more kids will fill it. With a few exceptions for big bulky items, use shallow drawers. Some narrow storage carts on wheels come with five or six shallow drawers. You can roll the cart into the closet if needed or line several in a row against a wall. Fill deeper drawers with mini-organizers such as small trays, tins, recycled cardboard boxes and more. Don’t use lids on the mini-organizers; that’s just a hassle for kids to find their items and remember to put the lids back on each item. Use makeshift cardboard dividers to separate things in drawers–like socks.

5. Color code it. Buy blue bins for Barbie dolls and red bins for fire trucks. Put summer clothing on green hangers and Sunday dress outfits on blue hangers. Or use different colors for different children. Suzy gets blue bins and hangers and Sandy gets red bins and hangers.

6. Hang it. Your children might view their collection of self-created artwork in much the same way as you view your collection of store-bought artwork. Buy inexpensive frames and hang drawings in a clustered artistic layout on one wall in your child’s room. It adds a decorative and personalized element. Put up a cork/bulletin board for the kids to hang ribbons and medals from field days, school spirit events and competitions. Another cork board can be for photos. Or hang a rectangular vertical homemade fabric organizer with pockets beside the door to hold photos, souvenir card collections and birthday cards through the years.

7. Set ground rules. For example, before you play another board game, you must first put this board game away. Before each gift-giving season, you must pick one item to donate to a nonprofit organization; it brings a smile to the face of a child with less than you. You can only keep things in your room that have a place. So if a drawer is full and you want to keep something new, you must discard something from the drawer (for example, an old piece of artwork for a new piece of artwork or an old broken toy for a new one).

Using Vehicle Tracking

28 02 2009

Security systems for automobiles nowadays offer varied sophisticated anti theft systems for your car’s security. Yet, if your car gets robbed, this is the device that will assist the police to take over and provide all details to help to get your car tracked and recovered.

  1. The most popular vehicle tracking system in the UK is Lojack. It isn’t equipped with a GPS feature and hence doesn’t come with a monthly fee tagged to it. It has a receiver and a transponder which helps you catch hold of the thief when your car is stolen.
  2. There are many anti theft systems like Teletracer, etc. Like the Lojack, even this does not employ GPS. However, it sends out signals that are received by a receiving station. This requires you to pay them a monthly fee.

Same as recurring cost and expenses involved in purchasing a mobile handset, even buying the car theft tracking product has with itself, a monthly service fee in order to use it’s its vehicle tracking service.

A Global positioning system can help you track your car through a map on the central monitoring station.

Although such systems are not cheap, they are the most reliable systems for security today.

A1 auto is one of the many car insurers who give you a discount on the premium if your car has an anti theft system installed.

Buying Bikinis for a Woman Is Definitely the Most Tough Courageous Thing to Performed. This Is Your Bikini Buying Manual for Men

27 02 2009

Acquiring underwear for young women can be one of the most amorous things blokes could perform - as well as the most traumatic and dangerous donation to acquire.

Bear in mind it’s not yours, but hers. Stay away from leather, PVC, or any super sexy outfit, pick something silky or lacey and should be fine.

Don’t attempt to guess your lady’s body size, favourite design Unluckily, girls don’t use S, M, large, and extra large sizes similar to men. Do your investigation to start with. Hang on in anticipation of she set out and then break into her pants drawer.

Search and locate things with the marker in it and make notes of the shapes and designs she is keen on. Bear in mind that add-ons like lace and ornaments can be stylish and sexy if you be knowledgeable about what your companion prefers. I established that my spouse likes Lingerie lingerie. I didn’t imagine that bikini were simply for the beach. Check this sexy silk lingerie from Frankly Darling, Ayten Gasson, Marjolaine, State of Undress and Mimi Holliday.

Lingerie sets instead can refer to in effect any skin-tight skimpy, or minute undergarment that presents less coverage to the midsection than usual undergarment, panties or knickers. Really Bikini lingerie mimes what you appreciate on the beach.

The bikini has developed into a US$811 million industry per annum and it’s perchance the most popular woman bathing suit all-round the globe as a result of the combination of the women’s power and fashion trends.

it’s a very old design. Beachwear clothing worn by women for sport reason can be seen on Greek jugs and works of art dating back to 1400 BC.

An antique mosaic described “Bikini Girls” dating back to the Diocletian age (286-305 AD) in South of Italy represents several girls in mosaics on the flooring.

In Pompeii there are also more than a few demonstrations of the Greek idol Venus dressed in a bikini.

The new Lingerie started to come into sight yet again at the beginning of last century, when Annette Kellerman was arrested on a Boston beach for having a form-fitting swimsuit that turn out to be established swimsuit for women by early 1900.

The up to date bikini was created by French engineer Louis Réard after world war two and was a shock when it became visible on French shores in 1947. He decided to call it after Lingerie Atoll in the Pacific ocean, the location of a atomic bomb test on 37073 in 1946. His idea was that the blow up of enthusiasm created by it was supposed to be like a nuclear device.

Concerning buying bikini for gift keep in mind that most shops will competently gift wrap your purchase for you if you require for a little payment and this is well worth paying a little more for. Along with I suggest to keep the receipt - just in case.

5 Tips for Successful Grandparenting

27 02 2009

Building on the cherished connection between grandparents and grandchildren is a life-long privilege. As grandchildren grow and mature the role grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren changes but the principals remain true at any age.

1. Boundaries are necessary for control and safety.
All children need and must learn to respect boundaries. Being clear about expectations before an activity begins frees you and the child to enjoy the event and ensures the safety of everyone involved. If you observe the boundaries are being violated, don’t be afraid to remind your grandchildren again. Restate the rules as many times as necessary. Writing the rules and posting them or bringing them along is a good idea. If a rule is violated during the activity, ask the child to repeat or read the rules again.

2.Gift giving is not a requirement of grandparenting.
Establish a practice with your first grandchild and stick with it; what you do for one doesn’t necessarily have to be done for all. Financial and family situations change as our children grow. If a family experiences loss of a job or divorce, don’t be afraid to make temporary changes. Gifts are gifts especially when they are unexpected. Surprise gifts are the best. Gifts don’t have to cost a lot. Research supports the fact that “time together” is the best gift we can give. Travel provides time for the grandparent and grandchildren to discover and appreciate each other’s gifts.

3. All rules must be consistent with parents’ wishes.
Anything you do with and for your grandchild needs to be discussed first with the parents. After all, parents make the rules and effective grandparents support them.

Don’t keep secrets from the parents and don’t ask the grandchildren to keep secrets from their parents. Many grandparents believe that some information should not be shared with the parents, but this only undermines the relationships.

4. There is no substitute for planning.
Proper planning ensures that the activity will be discussed with the parents. No matter what the age or sex of your grandchild, planning makes any activity more successful. This is not to say you can’t be spontaneous, but it’s often better and safer to have a plan.

Discuss with the child what he or she would like to do. Give careful thought to the age appropriateness of the activities before you begin. Giving children choices increases their self-confidence and is great training for the future.

5. Grandchildren and grandparents want to have fun!
There is no substitute for good old-fashioned belly laughs. It’s good for you, your grandchild and your relationship. During the activity itself, share with your grandchildren how excited you are about being with them.
Children enjoy getting away from their parents for short periods of time and grandparents enjoy being part of a very important relationship. Parents enjoy their break too.

Amore by Andrea Bocelli CD Review

26 02 2009

The supremely talented Andrea Bocelli has released his latest CD entitled Amore, and it is simply a beautiful collection of the most romantic and soothing songs available on any CD.

While I have been accused of having musical tastes that are insanely wide and varied I should make it clear that until recently I have not been a fan at all of Bocelli, but ended up catching his Under the Desert Sky performance from Las Vegas on PBS and rather enjoyed it.

This led me to look deeper into Amore and have found it to be an excellent production.

Including some of today’s top pop stars on several of the tracks makes it even better. Contributions are made to the project by performers like Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilera making this a really diverse CD.

I will without hesitation say that one doesn’t even have to be a fan of classical music to enjoy Bocelli’s Amore. With the Spanish influence throughout the CD, and the excellent vocals performed by some of the top vocalists of today this a collection music fans will surely not regret owning.

While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are Besame Mucho [track 2], Somos Novios [track 5], and Canzoni Stonate [track 9]. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore […as in “Stuck On REpeat”] is track 13, Because We Believe. Very nice!

Monterey Beach - An Improvisation Exercise

25 02 2009

Hearing is believing. Most people can’t believe that you can only use 2 chords to create a few minutes of music. They really can’t believe that they can do it themselves on the piano. Here’s where the fun begins.

For instance, take the improvisation exercise Monterey Beach. Here, we use only 2 chords, A Major 7 and F# minor 7 to create a nice little improvisation.

Because we know that we will be playing just 2 chords, it allows us to move around with them and express ourselves at the keyboard much more easily. Why is this? Because we’ve limited choice. You’ don’t have to worry about when to switch chords or what chords to play. The improvisation exercise takes care of that. Now, you can just focus on playing around with your materials, in this case chords, and have fun.

This approach to improvisation gives students the opportunity to relax and actually enjoy the process of music making. They don’t have to worry about scales or practicing for hours on end in order to “sound good.” On the contrary, students learn that they can actually play the piano using chords and make music right away!

Improvisation exercises like Monterey Beach prove to be an invaluable way for students to understand how to use the materials of music - which are chords and the element of time. We play around with these two and are surprised at what comes out of us. Perfection is not our goal here. Being in the moment and experiencing the joy of improvisation is.

Choosing A Personal Trainer

22 02 2009

If you’re a personal trainer - it’s most likely this article is going to offend you. So, be warned.

If you’ve sticked around long enough on my site, you would have realised by now that I’m not really a big fan of personal trainers. Now, don’t get me wrong - this is not because I don’t believe they are good, but mainly because I believe there are so many personal trainers out there, who despite the certification they possess, still lack the experience, the knowledge, and most importantly - the personal passion for the pursuit of physical fitness.

I’ve always believed that a personal trainer needs to walk the walk, and talk the talk! No point trying to motivate someone to lose weight if you’re a fat ass yourself, don’t you think? Take a look at the available personal trainers at your gym - how fit are they? Or just how full of bullshit are they? If they’re supposedly good at helping you ‘bulk up’ and help you gain muscle - do their physiques themselves show off their capability? Or if their expertise is ‘weight loss’, are they so lean and fit that they deserve to be admired? Cos if they’re overweight and flabby themselves, trust me - that simply shows the amount of motivation that they themselves lack to improve their very own physique. Don’t agree with me? Too bad then.

Personally, I myself have never paid for the services of a personal trainer mainly because I’ve always believed that I don’t see the necessity for me to have one. I think I know how to eat right, I know what to do at the gym to achieve my goals, and I know how to motivate myself for my workouts. I almost ALWAYS have productive workouts due to my strict focus, discipline, and mental preparation before every workout, plus - the music on my MP3 player helps me to stay in ‘my own world’ when I’m working out and in giving 101%. On top of all that, I see results.

However, for those of you who are in need of a little extra help - perhaps you’re a little clueless as to what to do at the gym? Or in need of some guidance, tailored nutritional advice, workout routines 100% tailored especially for you, and if you have the money to spare - then by all means, do get yourself a personal trainer! Not only would they would be able to guide you, but they would help keep your progress in check and take you to new levels of awareness - hopefully helping you succeed in reaching your fitness goals.

The problem, however, in my opinion (especially here in Malaysia) is the lack of properly qualified personal trainers. Though they exist somewhere out there, they’re not easy to find - especially if you’re new to the gym and are totally clueless. Plus, it’s easy to be ’seduced’ by the sweet talk of the personal trainer you get through your ‘complimentary sessions’ at the gym. If you ask me, most of them are just out there to meet their sales targets and make a living. Are they really, honestly concerned if you meet your goals? Would they call you to talk to you, be your friend, or allow you to call them anytime at all you have a doubt, or if you’re worried or confused on what to eat?

Disgustingly, some personal trainers I’ve known are only interested to get into the skirts of their clients (believe me). I know one personal trainer from a particular Fitness First branch who used to offer my female friend ENDLESS FREE SESSIONS… in exchange for a date! And at the end of every session - he would ask her out. Of course, she never really agreed - but he would even try to talk and hint naughty thoughts at her.. and I’m sure she’s not the only one. Why is it that all the females seem to get the ‘FREE SESSIONS’ even if they don’t qualify for it? Why don’t they approach the men to give free sessions instead? When they train their female clients, they touch them more, they help them more, they get closer to them physically. I don’t see them doing the same to their male clients. How come? I’ve got nothing to say.

I’ve always personally believed that a personal trainer needs more than a ‘certification’. They need the passion, the experience (this is so important), and the gifted ability to simply be able to motivate even the laziest person on earth. Does someone like this exist? Of course they do!

Everybody, I’m about to do something so unlike of me now.. to those of you looking for a personal trainer - I’m going to recommend you guys someone who I personally believe has all that it takes to help you achieve your goals.

Meet Julian Underwood (I hope I got his name right).

Why does dailymuscle.com recommend Julian?
He’s never trained me, but I’ve watched him train others, and believe me - I’m impressed. He once saw me working out and experimenting on something new, and he came up to me and commented on it. I was surprised that he even knew what I was trying to do. This was 1 year ago.

Julian seems like a serious, down-to-earth, no-nonsense guy. But most importantly, I’ve watched him talk, and motivate his clients. Just hearing him count your reps and stand by you as you workout is enough to convince me that he’s good. He is able to motivate you to push past your limits… and I like that. Put it this way - If I were to get a personal trainer for myself, he would be my choice. He also looks way fitter than most of the younger personal trainer newbies you see at the gym. Also, if you’re interested to know - I’ve seen him sit at the panel of judges for an International Fitness event held locally in Malaysia a few years ago - so I believe he is someone experienced, well known, and respected in the Fitness industry here in Malaysia. Its just that he never told most people. ;)

How much is Julian paying me for this publicity?
Ha ha. I wish! Julian probably doesn’t even know that dailymuscle.com exists. He doesn’t even know me.. Hmm. if he did know that this site exists.. it would be nice if he said hi though. Julian are you there?

How can you contact Julian?
Julian works for Fitness First at their corporate office besides being a personal trainer. I see him often at the Fitness First at Menara Manulife Damansara Heights and also sometimes at the Fitness First at Menara Axis. So if you’re interested to contact him, do give Fitness First a call and you should be able to locate him from there. For contact details, head over to Fitness First Malaysia’s website.

The Apprentice: Learning Lessons From Eccentrics

19 02 2009

Recent incarnations of The Apprentice featured some very unusual people. While I’m sure they were chosen to spice up the show, none of them seemed to possess the skills or expertise needed to compete on that level. If the show was supposed to be all about people vying for a mega-management position with the Trump Organization, these were candidates with the wrong stuff for that much-coveted spot. While the show and more conventional candidates may not have benefited from the antics of these bizarre applicants, serious viewers can certainly profit from their mistakes and eccentricities.

Apprentice 3 gave us the amazing Danny. Looking like a leisure suit hippy, this guy loved to strum the guitar and sing. He had a gimmick, but couldn’t seem to consistently deliver the goods as part of a team. Apprentice 4 introduced the often incomprehensible and seemingly ineffectual Markus. He became an outcast in the competition having proved to be uninspiring and frustrating to colleagues during various tasks. But my personal favorite was Brent from Apprentice 5. Here was a guy who loved to tell everyone about how much he would bring to the table. However, he didn’t work and play well with others and became known more as a big eater than a heavyweight performer. To challenge him was to face a verbal barrage and witness his own special brand of temper tantrum.

When it came to working as part of a project team trying to successfully complete a challenging task, these characters forgot all about FLEXABILITY. As The Donald has often demonstrated, you don’t have to compromise to be flexible. You just have to be willing to try a new approach, consult others with more expertise and go with the flow when you see that it benefits everyone involved including you. Instead, Danny, Markus and Brent became obstacles of their own creation. Each decided that every task would be approached from the standpoint of their own philosophy and methodology. This made them appear as unyielding and incompetent, even though all three had achieved a measure of success within their chosen careers.

Another important lesson to be learned from these three eccentrics is that being UNCONVENTIONAL is not always desirable when you’re faced with a tough project and rapidly approaching deadline. In order to think outside of the box, you have to know what’s inside. That means being familiar with time-proven techniques and procedures that have worked for others facing similar tasks. It also means being intellectually prepared. People with a passion for success will equip their mental toolbox with a willingness to learn and the ability to be consistent, intuitive, flexible, creative, decisive, unpretentious and motivated. If we judge them by their contributions to each task as Trump did in the boardroom, we see that Danny, Markus and Brent failed to exhibit evidence of these qualities which can help produce outstanding project team members and excellent leaders. While seeking to be his Apprentice, many candidates who compete on the show end up fired because they fail to follow the example set by Trump.

While most people think of Donald Trump as the ultimate Entrepreneur, he is also an astute businessperson. While he leads with authority and has no trouble getting his point across, Trump also inspires people with success and motivates them with opportunity. When it comes to moving his business empire forward, he doesn’t just think about making money. Trump is always looking for new opportunities to make more money by providing the very best product or service to those who can afford it. With his name boldly emblazoned on and associated with everything he does from a business standpoint, Trump has to insist on a superior level of quality. As a successful innovator, The Donald is second to none.

The Apprentice unashamedly presents the good, bad and ugly of people competing in the workplace. It’s a fantastic opportunity for success-driven individuals to learn the ABC’s of business behavior. If there is one vital lesson to be extracted from that aspect of the show it is that being eccentric isn’t a bad thing, as long as it doesn’t make us own our worst enemy.

SAD: How to Fight Seasonal Depression

19 02 2009

Have you ever wondered why our hearts go to our sweet hearts, we tend to miss them very intensely when it rains, we feel low, even feel like weeping alone on a cloudy day…we sometimes go through sudden mood change with no exact reason behind, we tend to eat more and sleep more and experience depression, lethargy, fatigue, cravings for sweets and starches, headaches, sleep problems and irritability as the temperature drops. The influence of season on human mood and his energy level is undeniable, and time and again the psychologists have studied and documented the facts.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is not only a couple of symptoms related to winter blah; it is mostly associated with day light, that is why SAD is prevalent in high latitude and mid latitude areas. People who live in the Arctic region are more susceptible due to the fact that they are affected by polar nights, prolonged periods of overcast weather also induce SAD, however, It is more serious disorder, sometimes requiring hospitalization when the depression is aggravated and turns into dysthymia or clinical depression. Our biological internal clocks or circadian rhythm goes through a shift as seasons change, and our biological clocks fall out of our daily schedules. January and February are the months when a SAD sufferer suffers the most, young people and women are comparatively more victimized.

The most frequent symptoms are recurring symptoms of depression and excessive eating and sleeping, weight gain during the fall or winter months. The patient would fully cutback from depression in the spring and summer months. SAD symptoms occur in them with no non-seasonal depression episodes and seasonal episodes significantly outnumber non-seasonal depression episodes. The patient craves for sugary and starchy foods during the winter. Possible cause of the disorder, as the researchers and psychologists say, is Melatonin, a sleep-related hormone secreted by the pineal gland in the brain. This hormone is said to cause symptoms of depression, because it is produced at increased levels in the dark. Therefore, when the days are shorter and darker the production of this hormone increases and people are affected.

Apart from antidepressants like Xanax, photo therapy or bright light therapy is proved to suppress the brain’s secretion of melatonin. The use of bright light box at a dose of 10,000 lux for 30-60 minutes per day has given good results. During these minutes the eyes should remain open but should not stare directly to the light. The light box is a bank of white fluorescent lights on a metal reflector and shield with a plastic screen. The light therapy may take several weeks to treat the depression but some patients have shown results within one week. For patients with mild symptoms, spending time in the sun or arranging picnics or outdoors to receive more sunlight may be helpful. A daily walk of an hour in the sunlight during the winter is more effective than two and a half hours of light therapy. When photo therapy does not work, an antidepressant drug proves to be effective in reducing or eliminating SAD symptoms. But before taking an antidepressant, a doctor’s advice is required so that a proper antidepressant medication is taken.

There is no cure for SAD discovered yet; nevertheless, the above mentioned treatments are helpful in managing the winter blues so that one can go though all the seasons in the year comfortably.
