Windsor Castle is thought to be the biggest inhabited castles around at the moment & the oldest in nonstop inhabitation (about 900 years). Windsor Castle was initially assembled by the renowned William the Conqueror, following his hit of England in ten sixty six. The original frame was assembled from lumber with gravel fortifications. Windsor Castle held a noticeable strategic location on a big hill high above the River Thames, and was a fraction of a group of strongholds surrounding London, with the Tower of London, one whole days ride away, at its hub.

The Palace was later on re-erected in rock, and increased in value over the following years. More recently Henry 2nd created the Round Tower & the original stone outer wall. After the English Civil War, the Castle’s primary role became that of a royal dwelling. Windsor Castle has stayed significantly unaffected ever since the beginning of the 19th century, apart from the reconstruction job right after the tragic fire.
