Mastering the basics means being able to play in all keys.
Being able to transpose any song to any other key - on
the spot preferably.

Did you know that 95% of guitarists DON’T master the
basics. Oh yes, they mean to get around to it, but they
hardly ever do.

Why is that? Well, it’s because they think it’s boring,
complicated and too much hard work. And most of all - no
fun! And mostly they were right. Well, it needn’t be that
way. Mastering the basics can be a lot of fun if you go
about it in a methodical set-by-step way.

What does mastering the basics entail?

There are 6 basic steps you need to follow:

1. Learn the names of all notes on all strings, one string at
a time.

2. Learn how to construct a C Major scale.

Basic must-know guitar theory. Easy stuff.

3. Learn how the chords of the major scale are made and
what they are… their names etc. C Dm Em F G Am Bdim.

Basic chord construction knowledge.

4. Learn the triad patterns for the C major scale all over
the fret board.

Triads are simple 3-note chords. Easy and fun to learn and
play.

5. Learn to play those triads with common chord
progressions.

Learn to play and apply the triads to the most common
chord progressions that fit thousands and thousands of
songs.

6. Learn to do step 5 in all keys.

Once you can do steps one to five in the key of C, it’s real
easy to learn it for the other 11 major keys.

Hint: It’s much easier than you think. All the patterns are
exactly the same as what you learn for C major. You don’t
have to learn any new patterns. Cookie cutter stuff.

step-by-step method that makes sense and is easy and
fun to use.

Jaguar has just most recently decided to have a company do the hard work in developing an advanced instrument cluster for one of its newest vehicles - the Jaguar XK. By studying aura one can tell the characteristics of the personality; the diseases of the person etc.

If we cultivate positive thinking with abundant love towards humanity the aura will reflect it. The colour of the aura will become red if one entertains negative and violent thoughts continuously.

Hence if we train our mind properly our aura will become bright and divine.

It just seemed too absurd to be true, but there it was in the August 2, 2004 edition of Newsweek I picked up the other day: “According to HealthGrades, the health-care-rating organization that conducted the study, needless deaths averaged 195,000 a year in 2000, 2001, and 2002. ‘That’s the equivalent of 390 jumbo jets full of people dying each year,’ says Dr. Samantha Collier, vice president of medical affairs.”

My mind struggled feebly to conjure up 390 jumbo jets going up in flames - it imploded hopelessly on crash number 8.

I started to wonder what it all meant. How could so many “needless” deaths be happening when we’re so advanced technologically? Why is this carnage allowed to continue unabated and who the hell’s responsible, anyway?

I came to the conclusion that there weren’t any good answers for any of it. The people who work in hospitals are fallible, just like you and me. The difference is, when you or I make a mistake, someone’s life isn’t hanging in the balance.

Still - 390 jumbo jets full of innocent people - what a tragedy. Most people checking into the hospital expect to be checking out in a few days - not checking out permanently. And the statistics just keep getting worse.

So what can a person do? Most people feel pretty powerless when it comes to protecting their health. If they get sick, they rely on existing healthcare and submit themselves to conventional medical treatment. But that’s not health care. That’s sickness care.

Real health care is about building health from the ground up. Sickness care is about cutting, radiating, poisoning and taking toxic prescription drugs.

So, the way I see it, there are two main options. Be good little medical consumers and go along with the healthcare program that we’ve all been taught to buy in to - or start thinking outside the healthcare box.

Men who smoke are more likely to experience impotence, study
shows.

Men with high blood pressure who smoke are 26 times more likely
to have erectile dysfunction - impotence - than nonsmokers, said
Spangler, associate professor of family and community medicine
in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, is the inability of a man to
achieve an erection or to complete intercourse, he said.

Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, affects an estimated 30
million Americans.

26-fold increase in erectile dysfunction occured among men with
hypertension who also currently smoke, a rate that is also twice
that of former smokers,” said Spangler. The more cigarettes
smoked per day the greater the chance of impotence, he added.

He said the study showed that former smokers among patients with
high blood pressure are 11 times more likely to be impotent than
non-smokers.

“Cigarette smoking, hypertension and erectile dysfunction are
common disorders in primary care, and informing men who smoke of
the exceptionally high possibility of developing erectile
dysfunction may motivate many to quit their tobacco habit.”

Spangler said smoking has “both acute and chronic effects on
erectile physiology.” In both human and animal studies, smoking
inhibits the ability to achieve a full erection.

Smoking also is known to accelerate atherosclerosis - hardening
of the arteries - and when the blood vessels in the pelvis area
are narrowed, that contributes to reduced penile blood flow.

“It may be that cigarette smoking and high blood pressure are
such powerful risk factors for impotence that it just
overshadows stress,” he said.

I wrote an article 2 months ago trying to rally some support for
the research for Mental Health Disorders. My main theme was for
people to donate to Non-Profit Organization, just $1.00. I mean
a Freaking dollar to help people on low income that have a
mental health disorder. Now I pointed out the fact that millions
were given to the victims of hurricane Katrina.

For some odd reason two months later not ONE GOD DAM DOLLAR WAS
DONATED I tried to rally the troops and still no one
even could give a measly dollar. Do you realize the new surgeon
general report says 1 in 5 Americans will come down with a
mental illness in some point in there life and this used to be 1
in 20, I would say that was close to an epidemic, that’s
millions more than the victims of the hurricane, yet the city
still SLEEPS.

Now what I want you all to know is this, on every cancer
patient and heart disease they spend on 1 patient $25 dollars of
research, heart disease 1 patient $23 research and the list goes
on and on. Now do you want to know the God’s truth? For every 1
Mentally Ill patient they spend, hold on to your hat 1 big huge
dollar that’s it! Now I think you can see what is happening
here, one lousy dollar for each patient for research.

Now what are we going to do about it? I will make a plea to all
those that are reading this please donate $1 measly dollar to
this non profit organization, let’s help people get medicine and
also raise awareness that we need to be spending billions on a
cure and medicine to improve the quality of lives of all the

A pond liner is a flexible waterproof membrane that covers the floor and the sides of a pond excavation. There are several different kinds to choose from. Polyethylene is useful when sandwiched between two layers of soil, while PVC, composition and rubber liners are the types to use for a clean pond lining when the aquatic plants are to be grown in containers.

Most ponds can be constructed from most pond liners, but in some circumstances one will offer particular advantages over another. Where no part of the liner is exposed, then polyethylene is perfectly adequate. It need not be a specially manufactured pond liner, any heavy gauge polyethylene will be sufficient. That commonly used by builders is ideal.

Composition liners and those manufactured from rubber are necessary where exposure is inevitable, especially in formal features where there is limited planting and the water is the main attraction. Not all pond owners are plant enthusiasts and often water is a design element which is introduced for its reflective qualities. Certainly in formal circumstances where a fitted liner is desired it is more practical to use a material like rubber as it can be manufactured neatly welded to the shape desired and provide accurate wrinkle-free corners and curves.

For most gardeners though, it is a case of digging a hole to the required shape and then putting in the liner. However, it is important to never buy a liner and then dig a hole. Always finish the excavation first and then calculate the size of liner required to fit. Irrespective of the pond’s shape, profile or size, calculating the liner size follows a simple formula. Take the length and then add to it twice the maximum depth. Then make the same calculation for the width. This will provide a liner that will suit the excavation and have sufficient overlap for the edges with a minimum of wastage.

It is necessary to mark out the shape of the proposed pond before digging commences. This not only permits accurate excavation, but gives an impression of how the finished pond will fit into the garden landscape. It is quite likely that original ideas will change somewhat when the proposal is seen in reality on the ground. Use stakes and string to create the outline of a formal pond, or a length of rope or hosepipe to give some guidance for an informal pond shape.

When creating an outline for an informal lined pond, take into account that while it is perfectly possible to line almost any shape or excavation, there is a limit to what can be achieved without significant folds and creases appearing in the liner. Whatever the final shape of the pond, marking out should be from a fixed point. When a building or path is used as a base-line this is straightforward, but if the pond outline has been created by eye, then create a point at one end using a stake knocked firmly into the soil as a marker.

The installation of a pond liner is the same for all materials except polythene. This needs molding completely to the shape of the excavation before water is added as it has little flexibility. Other materials used for pond lining are very flexible and when carefully installed mold to the contours of the excavation with the weight of added water. When digging ensure that the walls of the excavation remain as solid as possible. Replacing or filling with soil and attempting to compact it once disturbed is very difficult. Ideally the excavation should be carved out of the soil in rather the same manner as cutting cheese, that which remains behind being firm and solid.

Dig the whole of the pond down to the marginal shelves. Mark out the deep area of the excavation and dig down again. This helps to ensure that the hole is accurately produced with a solid base and walls that will remain firmly in place when the liner is laid and water added. During the digging process, make sure that the pond is level from end to end and side to side using a series of wooden stakes and a board with a spirit level. If the edges are not level, then when the liner and water are introduced there will be parts of the pond that will flood and other areas with large expanses of bare wall.

Irrespective of how tough the pond liner is believed to be, it will benefit from some form of cushioning in the hole. Make sure that there are no sticks or sharp stones in the excavation that may puncture the liner when the weight of water is added, and then add a generous layer of fine sand. The kind that is used for bricklaying is ideal.
If damp, it can be smoothed around the excavation and will even adhere to the sides. Fleece also provides a useful protection, as do thick wads of old wet newspapers or pieces of discarded carpet.

Spread the liner across the pond, weighing down the edges with bricks or rocks, then run water from a hosepipe into the center so that the liner molds to the shape of the hole. As the liner molds to the contours straighten out any wrinkles and where necessary make bold folds to create corners. Once installed, finish the edge with a neat arrangement of tiles, paving or stone.
